Dartmoor is in the centre of Devon, with 'Tors' rising to over 2000 ft (650 m), the highest points in the South of England, It's rugged rocky outcrops and deep sheltered valleys make it an excellent, if challenging riding area, unchanged for hundreds of years.

Meldon is a working farm that has always used horses to work cattle on Dartmoor. We do trail rides and cattle drives moving up to 150 head to and from their summer grazing areas, on the farms horses.What we have to offer

We run from April to October, with stays from 2 or 6 nights, we do a reduction for groups of 3 or more, guests can bring their own horse or ride one of our horses. Other activities: fishing, cycling.Horses available in our riding program

Our horses are well behaved thoroughbreds, cobs and quarter-horses. They have excellent temperaments and are used to working cattle on Dartmoor. They are forward going but sure footed.

Notes and supplements for the Trail Rides / Riding Program
Rides will be day rides from the farm of 4 to 5 hours, either as a cattle drive or trail ride doing a circular route with a pub lunch. Riders need to be of strong intermediate standard or better.

Guests will be required to maintain their own horse, all equipment, fork, shovel, broom, skip will be provided as well as unlimited use of the round pen. We also have a local Natural Horseman who will come in and work with your horse at a very reasonable fee.
