From our property, you can see the 2,800-meter-high Mount Canigou, the Gorges de Galamus, and the Cathar castle of Peyrepertus. Magnificent trails across plateaus with views of the Pyrenees, through forests, and across vast, unspoiled wilderness are simply perfect for horseback riding. This area is also historically fascinating: there are many ancient castles here that provided refuge for the Cathars during their persecution in the Middle Ages.
A day’s ride from us lie the castles of Peyrepertuse, Queribus, Rennes-le-Château, and the mystical Mount Bugerach. You’ll also find unspoiled swimming spots and gorges with crystal-clear water and deep pools.
The tiny village of “Les Baillessates” lies untouched by the hustle and bustle of tourist destinations or big cities, at an elevation of about 650 meters between the Corbières and the Pyrenees. A total of just over a dozen adults and a handful of children live here, untouched by the stresses of civilization, striving to live and work
