The Kahurangi National Park encompasses a huge area of wilderness in the North West corner of the South Island. It stretches west from Nelson through forested mountains and valleys to the rugged and wild West Coast, and south from beautiful Golden Bay to remote Karamea.

Traveling by car:


From Nelson, drive to Motueka.
Turn right at clock tower the beginning of Highway 61.
Travel 30km to the third bridge (Baton Bridge).
Cross the bridge, turn left.
Drive 13.5km to our Baton Run Horse Trek Sign.

If you don't have your own transport, we can arrange to pick you up from Motueka, Mapua, Richmond or Nelson.
A car is necessary

You have the option of exploring five valleys bordering the Kahurangi National Park and will have over 2023 hectares of land to ride on.

The Baton Run Farm (1011 hectares) has been in the Lublow family for three generations. Gustav Johan Frederick Lublow, a tailor by trade, bought the farm in 1906 believing there was gold to be found.

Fiona has chosen horses she loves to ride and has Arabs, Clydesdale Cross, Stationbred and Irish Hunters. She takes the time to get to know each horse and often takes them out to local competitions.

    Honeywell and Alpine Huts, traditional Kiwi accomodation with that little extra



    2 Cabins :


    Traditional Kiwi bach accommodation. A pot belly stove keeps you warm and an outdoor wood stove heats all your water for showers and baths. Soak your tired body in the outdoor bath after a day's horse riding and gaze at the beautiful night sky of the Southern Hemisphere.
