Our Khentii Mountain rides all start from our staging area in the Darkhid Valley, where there is a guest cabin and herder family ger stay. The valley is used for traditional semi-nomadic lifestock husbandry, and it is right on the edge of the largest roadless area in Mongolia, the combined Gorki-Terelj National Park and the Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area. From here, the home valley of our horse herd, it’s not uncommon to see marmot, roe deer, golden eagles, wolves, red deer, and fox. A few hours ride brinsg you into bear country. The area is located in scenic forest-steppe landscape, where you can y also stay with a local herder family in their guest ger and experience real herder life.
Help milk cows, herd sheep and goats and take a short horse ride with the herder as he looks after their livestock. The forests and surrounding hills are great for walking and afford wonderful views of the area. Prior to pack trips, we have a day ride in the Darjhid area for familirization.

Traveling by plane:
There are regular weekly/bi-weekly flights to Ulaanbaatar's Chingis Khan Airport from Berlin/Moscow, Incheon (Seoul), Osaka and Beijing by MIAT (Mongolian Airlines), Korean Air and Air China all are very good services. Flights for the summer months fill fast, therefore book early.
Pick-up at Chingis Khan Airport.

Traveling by train:
Ulaanbaatar is a stop-over of the Trans Siberian Railway, and train rides, particularly from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar, in comfortable overnight coaches, have become popular.
Arrive from Irkutsk/Moscow/Berlin, or Beijing.

    All rides start in the Darkhid Valley, home of traditional Mongolian herding families, about 1 hr drive from the capital city Ulaan Baatar. Accomodation here in traditional Ger or Log Cabin.

      Our horses are Mongolian horses, free roaming year-round. Growing up natural, they are usually easy-going. We spent lots of time with our horses preparing them for riders of all levels.
