Over night treks of up to 6 days in the top of the South Island.Ride through pristine wilderness & farmland located next to Kahurangi National Park.

We are located two hours south-west of Nelson or one hour south of Motueka, next to Kahurangi National Park, NZ's second largest national park, 4'500 hectares.

Mountainous with seven beautiful river valleys to explore. From challenging wild places to verdant farm land with lots of river crossings & rides through beautiful native forest & exotic pine plantations.

From Nelson, drive to Motueka. Turn at Rothman's clock tower, the beginning of Highway 61. Travel 30km to the third bridge over the Motueka River (Baton Bridge). Cross the bridge, turn left, drive 16km to our Western Ranges sign at the car park. Cross the swing bridge, turn left, then walk up to our yards.

Pickup is available from Motueka or Nelson at $30 return ($60 return for multi-day treks) per person. When booking, simply advise us of your needs and we will be happy to make transport arrangements for you.

We have access to thousands of acres in seven river valleys from verdent farm land to pristine wilderness.Swim horses bare back. Open areas for long canters,bush tracks, river crossings moutain views.

Our horses are English trained, we have Irish hunters, clydesdale/arab, apolloosers, arabs & NZ station bred horses. They are all free moving & well suited for experienced riders

    Gully Creek hut sleeps 5, one room cabin, candle light & woodstove, bush bath .



    1 Cabin :


    Gully creek hut is in an isolated location next to the Baton river. It has mesanine bunks sleeping couples in double bed on top mesanine. All bedding provided. No electricity. Fully catered for all meals, woodstove for heating & cooking. Out side hot shower & wood fired bush bath. Views to snow peaked mountains, horses paddocked close by.
