Ideal central location as base for all Sicily:
Alia is a small mountain village in the idyllic Madonie mountains. The region is a farming community and riding tracks abound in all directions. The locals have bred and worked with horses for centuries.
Pippa's Paddock ensure that thier rides always have a theme - a place to go or something to do.We feel this makes the riding so much more pleasant. We might visit a working farm and stop for a beer, visit a cheese factory and stop for lunch, visit local prehistoric underground dwellings... anything that we feel is of interest.
From our base in Alia our clients can visit most of the places of interest in Sicily. This is due to Alia's central location. A maximum of 2 hours drive takes you to all the main loations on the west of the island. We have extensive knowledge and experience of the area and can help you plan your excursions and visits to view the beautiful and historic island, even suggesting places for your evening meals!

Traveling by car:
Getting to Alia is possible by other means. If a car is used there are good roads all the way to the town.

Traveling by plane:
The main international airports in Sicily are Palermo (1.5 hours away), Catania (2.0 hours away) and Trapani (2.5 hours away). See our site for more details.
Pickup service is possible

Traveling by train:
The train service is excellent and enters Palermo airport terminal. From the train exit to the check-in counter is 3 minutes walk. The closest train station to us is 15 mins drive, but we will always get you and take you back at no extra charge.

Traveling by boat/ferry:
Varoius ferries enter Palermo from Northern Europe.Palermo is a great European harbour with many destinations. Driving to Alia from Palermo should take around 1.5 hours. Be warned that driving in Palermo can be an experience as the locals push hard and are not the best in the world for observing regulations.

Alia is a farming, mountainous region and free riding is available in all directions. Although we have a riding arena, our open country and long walks are our speciality.

Our animals are our family. Together with our horses (15 of them) we have dogs, rabbits and a few others. Beware though !! Some of our rabbits may think they're dogs...

Pippa? Paddock has three tastefully converted barns for your accomodation. Our premises overlook the beautiful "Gurfa" Valley and all rooms have a splendid view. Whilst breakfast and most lunches are taken on our premises, most dinners are eaten out at different restaurants and towns. Again we suggest you view our site.
