Makoa-Farm - join our exciting Horseback Riding Safaris or stay with us on our beautiful farm

Makoa-Farm Moshi / All Regions German website

For an intimate and personal experience to our guests affording them the best that East Africa has to offer in terms of the African 'Bush' experience

Africa/Indian Ocean > Tanzania > All Regions > Moshi

We welcome you to our farm house, in the middle of a coffee estate on the foothills of 5,896 meters high Mt. Kilimanjaro.
A stay on our farm is an adventure in itself. The landscape and scenery are as diverse as they are enchanting. Much of the farmland is devoted to conservation, bordered by two rivers, each filled with towering trees - a habitat we are committed to preserving. The birdlife is phenomenal, monkeys, small antelope and nocturnal game abound, and are frequently seen and heard. This is the perfect terrain for horse riding.
From here you can do daily rides or a short horseback safari with a mobile camp across the Maasai Steppe to the ecological wonder of the Kukulewa Hot Springs.
For experienced riders we offer gameviewing on horseback: Between the highest point in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru we explore the West Kilimanjaro Wilderness and get in close contact to wild animals.
This is a safari as it meant to be!

Excursions:

Makoa-Farm is located in northern Tanzania: on the southern slopes of Kilimanjaro, just a 45 minute drive from Arusha or 20 minutes from the old German town of Moshi.
The farm is near Kilimanjaro's Machame Gate with access to the spectacular rainforest on the mountain's lower slopes. The area is home to the Chagga people whose small villages and coffee farms dot the hillsides. On the plains to the south, Masai graze their cattle. The area is rich in diversity and surprisingly free of the tourist trappings.
Ideal start of your Mt. Kilimanjaro or Mt. Meru climb. Good for Safaris to the northern national parks and game reserves like Serengeti, Ngorongoro-Crater, Lake Manyara, Tarangire Nationalpark or Arusha Nationalpark.
Further excursions to Hot Springs, Lake Challa, Moshi oder Arusha, the center of the north.
